2023 Conference Registration

To register for the conference, click the link below and choose the appropriate options from the IHSPA online storefront. If you’re unable to pay via credit card, email [email protected] to work out an alternative option.

Registration for the 2023 Fall IHSPA conference is open! 

Early Registration (Now – Sept. 25): $20 per student

Late Registration (Sept. 26-Oct. 9): $25 per student

We do not charge for advisers (or chaperones) as long as the school brings students!

  • Check-in starts at 8:00 am
  • Welcome and keynote: 8:40 am
  • Conference ends at 2:30 pm

You need to be a member of IHSPA to attend. Membership is $45 for the year, and it covers the whole school (news, yearbook, etc.)

Notes for advisors:

Share these instructions with students when filling out the online form:

  1. Enter “0” in guest field
  2. Enter “open major” under majors listing (unless they have a specific interest)
  3. Parent information can be left blank

Lunch:

If you’d like to attend the adviser/speaker lunch, be sure to register. Cost is $20, unless the adviser is an event speaker. Speaker lunches are covered by IHSPA, however, you will need to register for the lunch so we can get an accurate headcount.

We are currently preparing the program and will have it available soon.

Activities requiring pre-registration:

  • Yearbook Critiques with Leslie Shipp, starting at 9:30 am. Session held at the back of the Main Lounge.

Sign up for a 10-minute session, where Leslie will provide feedback on materials you’ve emailed her at least one week prior to the conference. Sign up for a time slot through Sign-Up Genius.

  • Newspaper Critiques with Lyle Muller, starting at 9:30 am. Session held at the front of the Main Lounge.

Experience the DI-TV newsroom. See how TV and radio news programs get pulled together. You’ll learn what happens behind the scenes – and what you have to know to be part of it. This session requires pre-registration and is capped at 12.

  • The KRUI tours is limited to 20 people 11:30 am. Register ahead to secure your spot.

At the time of your tour, meet your guide in room 245, the Board Room, next to the lobby at the top of the stairs on the second floor of the IMU.

The National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) is offering an opportunity to work with a team of researchers to develop a practical toolkit for media literacy practices and curricula that center equity and inclusion. The session will focus on creating educational materials that connect to the Field Guide for Equitable Media Literacy Practice. This workshop is part of an on-going research grant to study media literacy practices in formal and informal K-12 learning spaces.
