Journalism chaos part 2: Recommended reading and staffer advice

Advice for staffers:

  • Encourage students to advocate for themselves and submit their work to increase the audience and help make your publication a household name on a national journalism level. Here are two ways: 1) Flipboard and JEA are now curating “Great Journalism from America’s High Schools.” Submit a link to [email protected]. 2) Submit a link to Best of SNO here.
  • Read Quill and Scroll magazine and consider creating an application process for students to join Quill and Scroll international honor society.
  • Did you know SPLC offers summer, fall and spring internships at their offices in D.C.? They’re open to undergraduate and graduate students only, but something for students to keep in mind for the future. Former WSS EIC, Brian Stewart, interned there while attending the UI.
