Iowa High School Press Association selected five member news teams as the top performers for 2016-17. The News Teams were selected for a field of fifteen that were identified by accumulating points during the Spring Journalism Contests

The finalists submitted three complete issues (a spring edition, fall issue and an editor’s choice) and their website for review. Three members of Iowa news organizations reviewed the entries and selected the top five.
