Let’s declare February caption month because we have some good ones from the February Contest!
Oh, if every caption could be like the ones from Suri Sithep of Ankeny covering the girls’ wrestling season and from Colin Wehrle and Taelim Yoon of Iowa City West covering the boys’ district swim meet. Sports captions filled with stats warm our hearts as do captions with quotes, captions that have more than one sentence. Captions are easier to write when the photos are good, and good photos accompany these captions.
And did Colin and Taelim drive 116 miles to Johnston to take swim photos! And they posted the day after the meet! Bravo!
Michael Miner of Waukee Northwest covered both days of girls’ state wrestling. His Instagram captions brim with stats.

The Iowa High School Press Association created a new contest, Story & Photo of the Month, for a chance for students to be featured on our social media. Students can submit a link to their best timely photos and stories to be entered into the monthly contest. At the end of the month, IHSPA chooses a story and a photo to post on our Instagram, Facebook, and website.
