Journalism is about capturing a moment and our two winners do that! Lane Carlson reported on the boys’ swim team’s annual SpeedoRun through the halls the day before break.

Jay Esmael talked to a student who was one of five chosen to ask Pope Leo XIV two questions and he answered! Jay is a senior at Waterloo West and serves as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Wahawk Yearbook with this being his first year on the Wahawk Insider staff. The Iowa High School Press Association created a new contest, Story & Photo of the Month, for a chance for students to be featured on our social media. Students can submit a link to their best timely photos and stories to be entered into the monthly contest. At the end of the month, IHSPA chooses a story and a photo to post on our Instagram, Facebook, and website.
