More excellent examples of journalism for March.

Des Moines East teachers are now micced up and Scroll reporter Kayla Xaysana reports why the school mandated them. Whenever a mandate occurs there are always dissenters and she interviewed them, too. This is Kayla’s first semester with East Scroll! You can see more of Kayla’s work here.

Ankeny’s Adilyn Hoop covered the school’s Unified basketball team, a team for students with disabilities. Great details about how a team might consist of all five players being students with special needs; or, if a helper is one of the team members their job is to get the ball to special needs players so they can shoot. Iowa City West’s Jake Beneke, Shanza Sami and Colin Wehrle wrote a piece about free bus fare.
