IHSPA 2017 Spring Contest results

IHSPA’s Spring Journalism Contest 2017 drew 1161 entries in 30 categories and three class sizes.

IHSPA All-Iowa News Teams Finalists

Schools accumulating the top five points in each size class are honored as IHSPA All-Iowa News Teams Finalists.

The 15 schools achieving IHSPA All-Iowa News Teams Finalists designation are encouraged to submit three editions and your website to be compete for the five IHSPA All-Iowa News Teams awards.

Class A: Atlantic HS, Hudson HS, Interstate 35 HS, Mount Vernon HS and PCM HS.

Class B: Cedar Falls HS, Des Moines Hoover, Des Moines North HS, Marion HS and West Delaware HS.

Class C: Des Moines East HS, Iowa City HS, Iowa City West HS, Johnston HS and Pleasant Valley HS of Bettendorf.

Points are awarded to schools for placing in the many categories of the Spring Journalism Contest. The points are tallied to identify the winners of the News Team of the Year competition. 22 schools competed in the three classes. The contest was judged by staff members of many news organizations across Iowa including: Anamosa Journal-Eureka, Corridor Business Journal, Daily Iowegian, Dubuque Telegraph-Herald, Drake University, Gazette, Iowa Freedom of Information Council, Grundy Register, Iowa City Press-Citizen and Register Media and Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.
